My Pebblestack series visually captures the inner stillness and mindful presence I experience by the ocean. These works are also inspired by the millions of unique and beautiful pebbles on the beaches here in Southern California.
The placement of the stones create a sense of instability and tension, yet are poised and steady. The large stones–strong and grounded–hold the weight of the others in perfect balance. Some stacks feel animated and in conversation with one another.
The vibrant colors, balanced with neutral tones, offer a sense of playfulness. Faux boix textures, inspired by my love for wood, trees and nature, softens the firmness and mass of the stone. Combined with my signature linen texture, these compositions create a tranquil scene of peace and calm.
